This painting is a map of my brain, which constantly bounces around like a pinball from one pop culture reference to another. That is the essence of my art, and this painting expresses it differently than my others.

It started when I got the idea to do something with the milk carton kids. So, I thought about who was missing, and I came up with the six-fingered man from The Princess Bride. I love Inigo Montoya and his lifelong quest to find the six-fingered man, with at least one detour into drunkenness and depression.

And of course, you know I love ‘80s wrestling, so my mind jumped to his co-star in the movie, Andre the Giant. That led me to Shepard Fairey's iconic “Obey” series featuring Andre, which made me think of my other favorite wrestler, Rowdy Roddy Piper, and the incredibly prophetic, deep scene in They Live when he finds glasses that reveal the subliminal messages that keep us sheep, one of which is “Obey.”

The messages in They Live are in black-and-white, like the old generic food products from the ‘80s, which made me think of one of my favorite movies ever, Repo Man, where every store has nothing but generic food. And finally, I love the scene in that movie where the Duke and Debbie say they want to go do some crimes (“get sushi and not pay”), I thought about crimes and milk, which brought me to Alex and his Droogs going to the Milk Bar for some “moloko” after a night of crimes in A Clockwork Orange.
