Vinyl #5: Sex Machine

Here’s the fifth in my vinyl series. This one pays homage to two great artists. First, we have the star of the show, hard workin’, Mr. Dynamite JAMES BROWN. In 1970, James Brown released the double album Sex Machine which includes a nearly 11-minute long live version of this song recorded live in his hometown of Augusta Georgia. One of the greatest funk tracks ever committed to vinyl.

And who could be a sexier machine than the one and only Charles Nelson Reilly? Just tune in to any reruns of Match Game ‘76 and watch Charles and Brett Sommers tickling Gene Rayburn with their sexual innuendoes. Charles smoking his pipe and Brett with her cigarettes… both of them probably drunk. Or go back to Love, American Style and witness his brilliance. In the words of Will Ferrell: “scrumtrelescent.”
