Vinyl #7: Prince Charming

Here’s number seven in my vinyl series. Adam Ant splashed onto the music scene with his band in the late 70s and early 80s. His rise coincided with the birth of MTV in 1981, the year his band released the album Prince Charming. I loved New Wave, early MTV, and the freaks of the music scene. And while I was never a big fan of Adam and The Ants, I did love Atom Ant, who shared billing with Secret Squirrel (and his sidekick Morocco Mole) on the classic Hanna-Barbera show of the 60s. Later he joined forces with Precious Pupp and of course The Hillbilly Bears. Some of my Saturday morning favorites.

Also every morning when I wake up my son I say, “Up and at ‘em, Atom Ant!” He didn’t know where that came from until I did this painting.

Acrylic on canvas. Measures 12” x 12”
