Vinyl #2: Let It Bleed

Here’s the second in my vinyl series. Tucked in between Beggars Banquet (1968) and Sticky Fingers (1971), The Rolling Stones Let It Bleed completes possibly the greatest trio of rock ‘n’ roll records ever made by one band.

The album was released in the US on November 28, 1969. Nine days later, the Stones paid the Hells Angels $500 in beer to provide security at the Altamont Free Concert, dubbed the “Woodstock of the West.” The Angels beat the shit out of people and stabbed a meth-crazed fan to death while the band performed “Under My Thumb,” effectively bringing the peace, love, and hippy 60s to an end. The next day, Super Doug was born. ‘Nuf said.
